A New Chapter in Soho
New studio portraits captured in the heart of Soho offer a glimpse into the people behind LBY Architects – and mark the beginning of a new chapter for the practice.

Recent weeks have seen the LBY Architects team step out from behind drawings, meetings and project reviews for a new series of studio portraits, captured just outside our office on Wardour Mews in Soho.
Photographed by long-time collaborator Morley von Sternberg, the shoot marked more than simply updating imagery for the practice website. It became an opportunity to reflect on where the studio is today – a practice shaped by collaboration, long-standing relationships and an evolving body of work across education, research, retrofit and regeneration.
A studio shaped by collaboration
Morley has documented many of LBY’s projects over the years, capturing buildings at different stages of their life and use. This time, the focus shifted towards the people behind the work – the conversations, ideas and collaboration that shape the studio day-to-day.
The resulting portraits feel informal, honest and rooted in the character of the practice itself. Rather than polished corporate imagery, the aim was to capture something closer to the real atmosphere of the studio and the people within it.
As the practice continues to evolve, the new website and photography offer a more personal glimpse into the team behind the projects, and the wider thinking that informs our work.
Creative roots in Wardour Mews
Soho already feels like a natural setting for this next chapter. Tucked behind Berwick Street, Wardour Mews sits within one of London’s most layered creative neighbourhoods – shaped over decades by music, film, design and independent thinking.
Just around the corner, Britpop legends Oasis photographed the cover for their landmark album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? – one of many reminders of the creative history woven through Soho’s streets.
For LBY, the move has provided an opportunity to refresh how the practice presents itself while remaining closely connected to the values that have shaped the studio over many years.
As the website continues to develop, this section will become a place to share more of that studio life – reflections, projects in progress, observations from the team and some of the thinking behind the work.
